not going to try to be too ambitious with this page, no reviews of our entire music collections or top ten lists here (just yet). what is easier to write about is music recently acquired:

jose gonzalez
veneer and stay in the shade ep

you know you are going to love someone when you stay in the car to hear a track out. such was this guys cover of kylies hand on your heart. album and ep bought straight away sort of like folk with a latin twinge to my mind. reminds me of a less technically accomplished yet more musical rodrigo and gabriel. go buy you fools.

the killers
hot fuss

apparently their fellow americans just don't get the killers. too bad - us brits do and they rock in a delightfully indie with a slight dollop of duran duran way. don't get me wrong not all the album is great but it rarely puts a foot wrong. favs include mr b, jenny was a friend of mine, midnight show and ontop.

snowpatrol
final straw

average tbh, loved spitting games and run but everything else is a little bit mediocre. been bubbling around though and i reckon they are due their time in the sun. whatevers left another nice one but you can't help feeling you have heard it all before........

crosby, stills & nash
their first album

what better an opportunity for record buying than a hmv sale, although i'm just as, if not even more likely to buy a cd that isn't on sale. but when i spot something that i've been meaning to buy for a while then it's hard to leave it on the shelf. i'm on my second listen and crosby, stills & nash is just about what i was expecting; good harmonies, splendid instrumentals and some particularly nice hammond bits. all together a worthwhile purchase.

neil young and crazy horse
greendale

neil young's latest album has been most warmly received at jonesnow. some of his more recent albums have had the feel of 'old-ish bloke playing rock, greendale has the feel of 'music superhero finely crafts detailed epic'. greendale is a place and neil young has created the lives and stories of it's inhabitants. in doing this he gets down to his folky, country roots and acts as narrator. the album's artwork and website add to the wonderful whole that is greendale.

pest
necessary measures

necessary measures by pest is one of the best things we've bought to in a long time and it gets better with every listen. new bits of sound jump out of the speakers that i'm sure i didn't hear before. impossible to describe but if you have a rummage around here there are some samples.
